As the cold winter come to a draw, it high time that you take your volkswagen to a professional check up center. You will need a complete assessment of your vehicle from top to bottom and might need some necessary services to make sure that your car is performing well for the summers.

Tires:  It's time to get the summer tires or the all season tires back on your car from the snow tires.. Invest in a tire gauge to make sure your tires remain at the appropriate manufacturer recommended pressure. Proper tire pressure helps with gas mileage, insures your tires last longer, and promotes safety and optimal automobile handling.

Alignment: Winter is notorious for potholes and rough road surfaces which can affect your car's alignment. Getting an alignment, if needed, will prolong the life of your tires and suspension as well as promote optimal safety for you and your family.
Fluids: Have your fluid levels checked including oil, battery, windshield washer, and cooling system fluids. Old antifreeze or a dysfunctional thermostat with increase gas mileage and could even result in overheating during the summer months.

Air Conditioning and Exhaust Systems: Along with having your temperature gauge and antifreeze checked, check out the cooling system. It is best to correct any problems early to avoid the summer rush before it gets hot outside. At the same time, a thorough inspection of your exhaust system will go a long way in preventing trouble down the road.

Belts and Hoses: Winter and the cold are hard on your car's belts and hoses. Get them checked for cracks, leak, soft hoses, and loose connections to avoid expensive repairs in the future. Functioning belts and hoses will help to make sure you are ready for summer road trips.

Battery: If you are experiencing problems starting your car or there is corrosion on your plugs, you may require a new battery. Be sure to tell your service representative if your battery has failed you during the winter.

Brakes: Salt from the roads wears on your brake system. Make sure your check-up includes washing corrosive salt from your brakes and that they are operating correctly. Report any excessive noise when braking such as squealing or grinding which can indicate worn brake pads or other problems.

Windshield Wipers: Snow and ice are hard on windshield wipers. Spring is the perfect time to change out your wipers for rainy days ahead. Make sure you purchase the correct wiper blades for your vehicle as they come in many sizes. The professionals in your Volkswagen parts department will help you obtain the proper wipers. New windshield wipers ensure greater visibility and safety in the months ahead.

Lights: Take a look at your headlights, rear lights, brake lights, and interior lights. Have any nonfunctional lights replaced while you are at the dealership. Of course your Volkswagen service department checks lights during your regularly scheduled maintenance.

Exterior and Interior Cleaning: The corrosive effects of salt and sand from winter roadways mean it is important to give your car a thorough cleaning. Have your entire vehicle washed including the undercarriage.

And don't forget the interior. A meticulous vacuuming will rid your car of all the salt, sand, and mud that gets tracked in over the winter. Vacuuming will help extend the life of your carpet and upholstery. It might be a good time to see if your floor mats need to be replaced as well.

With all the above doe you could happily wait for the summer days and freely enjoy your ride around town while the others get their vehicles fixed.
